In the book Kimmerer sheds light on the idea that humans are in reciprocal relationships with plants, animals, and the natural world-and that this understanding is crucial for a wider ecological consciousness. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, Kimmerer reveals the ways that Indigenous wisdom informs her own scientific endeavors and how it can help us better understand the world around us.
